The Visitors' show last night was one of my top 10 favorites. I've seen many concerts in my lifetime. The people working the sound board are to be commended for helping The Visitors to sound really good in a venue that I consider to be "acoustically challenged." The music was tight and well-balanced. The Visitors has chosen a very talented group of musicians to back him up on this tour; giving them a chance to shine at various moments during the show. He asked Vince Gill to perform with him during his acoustic set, and at the end with Vince backing him up on a Les Paul.
Roger chose to play an acoustic guitar quite a bit. The only concern I had was Roger opening up for him. Every time he played, he rocked back and forth, taking his mouth away from the mic. Since Roger's voice was cracking at times, he was being drowned out. His drummer's tone was too high pitched for his music; sounding like a snare drum/high hat combo at times, with no lower bass tones present. You could not hear the bass guitar, at all. All of this confusion caused his music to lack dynamics. There was simply too much guitar, low lead vocals, no bass, and a drowned out set of drums. His show had the potential of being much better. Especially considering they do an excellent job harmonizing vocally, when you could hear them. This was not all his fault, as he has chosen to have two more electric guitarist: a lead Gibson SG player (very good), and a back-up Fender Telecaster. The mixing was way off base.
